About this event
Join us this month to learn about the history of almanacs - they've been published in North America for almost 400 years and are still in print today!
The earliest almanac appeared in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1639. It was the second work to be printed in the American colonies. The most important early American almanacs were made from 1726 to 1775 by Nathaniel Ames of Dedham, Massachusetts. James Franklin began publishing the Rhode-Island Almanack in 1728 and his brother Benjamin Franklin began publishing Poor Richard's Almanack from 1733 to 1758.
At this meetup, we'll discuss their history and learn what is included in the modern versions.
Please bring $2 to cover the cost of our meetup and supplies.
