- ➤ Council Chair Rita Heard Days dropped a $3 million animal shelter funding bill from Tuesday’s meeting after the shelter passed inspection. Homeless advocate Larry Rice urged the county to use $600,000 for homeless outreach—funding hotel vouchers, bus passes and administrative costs—to help those in need as winter nears. First Alert 4
