EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Westminster Christian Academy became the first high school to open its own coral restoration lab at its grand opening on Aug. 8, where STEM Director Mike Decker and sophomore Abbey Baker performed the first coral micro-fragmentations. Decker said the lab—developed as part of the Ocean Discovery program—uses micro-fragmentation to grow federally protected Stony Atlantic Coral and plans to outplant it to restore reefs in Florida. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chesterfield officials approved a $17.3 million purchase of the Mass Mutual office tower and attached parking garage near Central Park to boost parking capacity for the Amphitheater—city leaders expect the leasing profits to generate about $500,000 per year. Supporters say the deal will support additional government services while critics called it overpriced and unnecessary. St. Louis Post-Dispatch
