COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Louis County Pet Adoption Center needs foster and adoptive homes to care for its dogs until Aug. 8 because the shelter is over capacity—Division Manager Malik Johnson said community support is needed.  First Alert 4

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Louis police reopened the investigation of a 2016 rape allegation against former Bates Architects CEO Steve Warlick—who denies the claims—after a rape kit analysis was completed, while the FBI is investigating separate sexual assault allegations.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page was indicted on four charges—including two counts of stealing by deceit and two Missouri election law violations—for allegedly misusing over $35,000 in public funds to send more than 50,000 mailers opposing Proposition B on the April 8 ballot, authorities said.  West Newsmagazine

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Francis Howell School District announced that Mike Dominguez resigned on July 31 to pursue opportunities that better align with his family's needs and never began his role. Interim superintendent Mark Delaney will continue in the role as the board addresses community concerns over the delayed hiring process.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chesterfield reached an agreement with Parkway School District for a capital contribution from the Regional Tax Increment Financing District to cover school costs in the downtown redevelopment of the former mall — the agreement lets the school district request funds from a segregated account to reimburse up to 10% of qualified capital expenditures.  West Newsmagazine
  • Chesterfield City Council will consider Monday a proposal to buy a fully leased office building and parking garage for $17.3 million—this move aims to improve parking in a quickly growing area near the park and amphitheater while some officials express concerns about long-term value risks. City Administrator Mike Geisel said the city could soon use the building for expanding services, and residents have noted heavy traffic in the neighborhood.  First Alert 4
