BUSINESS NEWS

  • Peak Resorts is planning improvements at Hidden Valley by adding a new 575-foot tow rope near the Gateway and Ozark lifts and expanding the carpet lift by about 80 feet for beginners — the Wildwood Planning & Zoning Commission gave initial permit approval on July 7. The resort now seeks a conditional use permit for its 214-acre property.  West Newsmagazine

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Louis lawmakers are proposing bills to ban or strictly regulate intoxicating hemp seltzers and edibles outside dispensaries after concerns that unregulated products pose a public health risk, even though Chesterfield and other local cities already enforce similar restrictions. Alderman Cohn and Councilmember Clancy say the measures are needed to protect kids and ensure product safety + to prevent shady practices in the industry.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • Missouri lawmakers passed a law that will ban invasive plants like Callery pear and burning bush from state-licensed nurseries starting Jan. 1, 2029, and climbing euonymus, Japanese honeysuckle, sericea lespedeza and perilla mint from Jan. 1, 2027—nursery owners must sign affidavits with their annual registration, and Governor Mike Kehoe signed the measure into law on Monday to help protect native species and cattle.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • Gov. Mike Kehoe signed bills that improve rural health care with better telehealth and prenatal testing—one measure requires testing protocols and device coverage while another restricts and reports water exportation from beyond 30 miles of the state border. These actions are meant to protect Missouri’s water supply and support local farming communities.  First Alert 4
