- ➤ St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page is asking the County Council to set aside $21 million from the county’s NFL settlement fund to retrofit its pet adoption center by upgrading veterinary offices, kennel space, HVAC, and water & sewer capacity. - ➤ St. Louis County has launched a text-to-911 service that lets residents contact dispatch centers for emergencies. County Executive Dr. Sam Page said the new system helps those who are hard of hearing or in dangerous situations—residents should include their exact location and a clear description since photos, videos and emojis are not accepted. - ➤ St. Luke's announced it will close its 143-bed Des Peres hospital effective Aug. 1 due to persistently low utilization and rising financial pressures—providers plan to work with local health care groups to ensure a smooth patient transition.
