GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Mike Kehoe signed Trey’s Law Tuesday, which voids nondisclosure agreements for child sexual abuse cases if signed after Aug. 28, honoring Trey Carlock who died by suicide after being abused in 2019. The legislation is part of a larger public safety package—supporting law enforcement and victim protections—that passed with little opposition. St. Louis Post-Dispatch
- ➤ St. Louis County will host three special Saturday events in June for seniors to submit new property tax freeze applications at county offices, with the first on June 14 at the West County Government Center in Chesterfield — only new applications will be processed at these events. Events run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — no status checks or follow-ups will be handled — and seniors must apply by June 30 for Base Year 2024. West Newsmagazine
- ➤ The county animal shelter lost its state license application on May 14 after three failed inspections and a parvovirus outbreak that led to the euthanasia of 19 dogs—county officials now call for testimonies from health and shelter staff as a new inspection is planned.
