West Newsmagazine and Mid Rivers Newsmagazine partnered with Parkway School District’s Spark business incubator program to offer two Parkway South High seniors a six-week digital media internship, during which they edited videos for the newspapers’ social media platforms and learned real-world digital storytelling skills. The newspapers congratulated the interns as they prepare for college this fall (a milestone for local students).

On Wednesday, a new mental health app called Response launched to help schools support student wellness by offering 24-hour crisis access, mindfulness videos + peer support.

Behavioral Health Response signed contracts with local districts and seeks more participation to reduce stigma and prevent crises before they occur.

The county health director warned jail health services might be cut if the council fails to approve $2.8M for contract nurses—who currently provide 70% of care—for inmates.

Council officials said the health department must complete its supplemental budget process to secure the funding.

Local first responders trained on Wednesday at Six Flags St. Louis to practice water rescues in a four-day exercise covering 20 skill sets (a simulation held for 31 years).
