BUSINESS NEWS

  • Slyman Bros. Appliances expanded its Ballwin showroom last week at 14755 Manchester Road with 2,000 square feet dedicated to brands such as Wolf, Sub-Zero and Cove — the company now operates four showrooms in the region.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Class of 2025 Committee has moved the annual Senior Farewell from school to Main Event in Chesterfield Valley, where students will enjoy bowling, laser tag, and arcade games while the event runs May 10th-11th starting at 11 p.m. The early payment cost is $85 (rising to $100 on the day) and the change removes the school liability in hosting the event.  Marquette Messenger

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County Executive Sam Page vetoed a $3.2 million plan approved by the County Council to fund Rustic Roots Sanctuary after farmers questioned the bidding process and matching grants in north St. Louis County. Councilwoman Shalonda Webb and Janett Lewis had advanced the initiative to help local farmers secure fresh food, but concerns over unclear funding details led to a call for a competitive bidding process — leaving the program in limbo.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials said that a canine parvo outbreak at the county animal shelter is contained after 19 infected dogs were euthanized — additional steps like deep cleaning, crate purchases, and transfers of healthy dogs are in place to stop further spread, and only one dog remains treated for the virus.  First Alert 4
