ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Trailnet’s annual report showed that 23 pedestrians died in the city and 36 in the county, a record number driven by unsafe street design and lack of pedestrian infrastructure—local advocates are calling for urgent traffic calming improvements.  First Alert 4

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Louis County Police released video from a fatal officer-involved shooting in South County on March 21 when officers responded around 10:30 a.m. on Hawkins Bend Drive to a report of harassment and motor vehicle tampering involving a 38-year-old man who resisted arrest and showed a handgun—both officers fired during the struggle.  First Alert 4
  • James Townes Jr, 48, is accused of forging documents and impersonating a notary by altering quitclaim deeds and transferring home titles to his business Tied Tight Entertainment LLC between June 2024 and March 2025—he faces multiple counts of theft and forgery and is held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.  First Alert 4

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 75th annual Greater St. Louis Book Fair opened on May 1 at Queeny Park in west St. Louis County and is free for the public today through Sunday—attendees can browse thousands of books, CDs, vinyl records and movies while enjoying one of the Midwest's largest charity book fairs.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Louis County held workshops at library branches to preview STLCO 2050—the Sustainable and Equitable Comprehensive Plan that will guide county growth for 25 years. Officials will update the plan with community feedback and present it for review in June before a final vote by the County Council in July.  West Newsmagazine
  • St. Louis County leaders are handling an old administration building by moving hundreds of workers into temporary space + planning a new sprinkler system and independent power supply for the jail, courts and police headquarters. They have not yet decided whether to build a new building or renovate the current one.  First Alert 4
