ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Missouri residents will see a 12% increase in their electric bills starting in June as the Missouri Public Service Commission approved a new rate agreement with Ameren Missouri—raising rates by about $14 per month for customers using 1,011 kilowatt-hours. The approved increase is $91 million less than Ameren’s original request to cover grid upgrades and clean energy investments. West Newsmagazine

- ➤ Parkway School District approved a new policy that stops cell phone and smartwatch use in elementary and middle schools and limits high school phone use during class, with the rule starting next school year to help students focus. - ➤ The Missouri Botanical Garden lost federal funding for two research programs when new policy changes removed IMLS grants—one grant had $372,097 still in the bank for plant protection research.
