CRIME NEWS

  • On April 23, police charged 29-year-old Jacob Abernathy with first degree institutional vandalism and property damage after he threw rocks through St. Lukes Church windows and business windows on Telegraph Road, and he admitted the damage while police set a $25,000 cash-only bond for over $750 in damages.  First Alert 4

HEALTH NEWS

  • Aisha Sultan said talking to a therapist helped her get through the hard days of the pandemic and led her to create a series on mental health topics. The show, Things We Don't Talk About, will premiere on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. on Nine PBS and run for 12 weeks — with some breaks scheduled.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • Martin Mwita, 20, from near Omaha became the first sickle cell patient at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis to receive the FDA-approved gene therapy—his latest tests showed 85% normal red blood cells after a months-long treatment involving stem cell extraction, modification, and transplant following intensive chemotherapy. His treatment—one of the first in the nation—offers new hope for patients with the disease.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
