ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Environmental groups will host the third annual Confluence Trash Bash on Saturday to clean up rivers, creeks, and illegal dumping sites across the region. Volunteers who pre-register will receive gloves, trash bags, and a free t-shirt—organizers hope to build on last year's effort that removed 5.2 tons of trash from more than 30 sites while a post-cleanup picnic at the Audubon Center at Riverlands follows at 11 a.m.  First Alert 4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Charles County officials announced a $50M state grant for a new regional law enforcement training center that will feature real-world simulation replicas and virtual reality rooms—officials said the center will serve officers from Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles, and St. Louis counties and will be detailed at a press conference in Chesterfield on Thursday.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

HEALTH NEWS

  • A bat collected from a Webster Groves home on April 3 tested positive for rabies, marking the first case in Saint Louis County this year. Health officials advise residents to avoid handling bats and to keep pets current on rabies vaccinations (contact health services immediately if exposure is suspected).  First Alert 4
