CRIME NEWS

  • A St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red is accused in a lawsuit of urging her Facebook followers to attack her child's grandmother—forcing her to leave her Hazelwood home after her address and picture were shared on December 3.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

CULTURE NEWS

  • Twin 2-year-old polar bear cubs Kallik and Kallu made their public debut Tuesday, March 25th at the St. Louis Zoo as they swam and explored their new home—part of a trade that sent fan favorite Kali to Toledo Zoo. Their names mean lightning and thunder.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Metro Transit updated its Call-A-Ride system after months of service issues so disabled riders no longer face long wait times or cancellations. Stephanie McDowell noted improvements with the new MetroGo app — though delays still occur and the system is not yet perfect.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • On Tuesday, the St. Louis County Council blocked County Executive Sam Page from issuing a proclamation for Planned Parenthood during the meeting because it was not on the agenda. Acting Council Chair Dennis Hancock said Page should have handled it on his own time — and despite the dispute, Planned Parenthood later received the proclamation.  First Alert 4
  • Local voters in Ballwin and Chesterfield can review candidate responses for contested races in the April 8 municipal election. The responses show each candidate’s qualifications and plans to serve their communities (only candidates in contested races answered the questionnaire by the deadline).  West Newsmagazine
  • Melissa Price Smith, the new county prosecutor, has reorganized staff and reopened units for violent crimes and homicides while rebuilding ties with local law enforcement—she said in an interview on Monday that her office will pursue the death penalty when required by law. The changes mark a shift from previous policies as she works to strengthen the department's efforts against serious crimes.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • St. Louis County voters began no-excuse absentee voting on March 25 for the April 8 General Municipal Election—ballots are accepted at the Board of Elections office in St. Ann and at satellite sites opening March 31. Mail ballot applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 26—this deadline applies to all absentee voters.  First Alert 4
