About this event
The St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and Music Director Samuel Hollister return to the Powell Hall stage with a program full of drama, energy, and vivid storytelling. Grażyna Bacewicz’s wartime Overture sets the story in motion with rhythmic momentum and triumphant fanfares that counter darkness with blazing light . Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 follows, transporting listeners from the peaceful dawn of “Morning Mood” to the mounting tension of “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” The concert culminates with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade , the beloved orchestral retelling of tales from One Thousand and One Nights that brings the season opener to a n exhilarating close.
